And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20

Time for a quick test of knowledge! What is the most isolated point on earth? I am not asking for the most isolated people, or land. I am asking about the most isolated point on our planet. Fun fact before giving you the answer; when the International space station passes above this place the people on the ISS are the closest human beings to it. Okay at this point you have either clicked out of the article to google the answer or you have already blurted out the name and are simply waiting for me to confirm your knowledge of random geographical facts. The most isolated place on earth is Point Nemo! This location in the Pacific Ocean is 1670 Miles away from the nearest land. It is considered a pole of inaccessibility. Wild right? If you were to take a boat out to this place would you feel isolated? Probably not, that's because more often than not our physical location does not make us feel alone. Instead loneliness is a feeling that we often feel regardless of who is around us. Yet the bible tells us that we are not alone. So what do we do? How do we not feel alone? I have good news for you! Do you wanna hear it? Keep reading the Bible has so much for you.

Okay let’s get one thing straight. We were not made to live in isolation. Point Nemo is a cool geographical fact but it is not the palace to be. In fact when God created humanity for the first time He actually made us to be with Him! In the book of Exodus God has recused His people from slavery. In their journey through the wilderness God asks them to build him a structure which we call the Tabernacle.

Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Exodus 25:8

The Bible is all about God trying to reunite people who are isolated from Him back into relationship with Him. So how does He do that? If humanity is like Point Nemo out there as far away as possible what the solution?

Here is the beauty of the Bible. God was not content with letting His creation drift away in an ocean of sin and pain. God has set up a system of communication, a way of knowing Him, talking to Him, and living with Him. It is almost as if God saw our isolation and said “No way am I letting that happen”. The author Paul put it this way in his letter to the Christians in Rome.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

What an amazing way to see God’s presence. Are you feeling alone in life? There is a God who will not let anything separate you from Him all you need to do is let Him reach you. Since God is adamant that we not be alone how do we respond? Well I have a few suggestions. The first is simple, reach out to God. If you aren’t familiar with how to do that why not try a simple conversation? Yes God is the creator of the universe, yes He is all powerful and greater than anything however, He is inviting you into a relationship with Him, He wants to be with you. In Matthew 6:6 Jesus tells us to go into our rooms and close the door. Be alone with God! That’s a different kind of alone. It’s not a separation but a gather! My second suggestions is to seek community. Experiencing communion with God is also something we can do with others. Later in the book of Matthew in chapter 18 verse 20 Jesus says  “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” What an amazing promise!

There is nothing that can separate us from God, there is no where you can go that God cannot follow. You may feel like you are on point Nemo but God is there with you.
